In a bold statement that’s already stirring up conversations across the tech world, Google’s AI chief Demis Hassabis has hinted at a future where the traditional inbox—and possibly even Gmail as we know it—may become obsolete.

According to a live report by News18, Hassabis made these comments during a keynote at SXSW London. Hassabis revealed that Google DeepMind is actively working on a next-generation AI-powered email assistant designed to revolutionize how we deal with our inboxes.

According to Hassabis, the goal is to build an intelligent email layer that acts like a personal secretary. This AI won’t just sort your inbox—it will understand your priorities, respond on your behalf, and protect your attention from unwanted noise.
